You could always fly to Vegas from Prescott. The new airline (Mesa Air) flies there - I think about once a day for $75 one-way. They also fly to Phoenix for $85 one-way. Maybe you could strike a deal to fly stand-by or at a reduced rate, since you're a pilot. Google Maps says the drive to Vegas is 4h15m, but I-40 is 75mph. If you drive 10mph over, you could probably hit 4hrs or less.

Sounds like Prescott, Flagstaff and Sedona are best bets
Thanks again for all the input. Southwest has pilot bases in PHX and Vegas and due to my scheduling I'll have to live within 2-3 hours of the base. I can fly for free on any airline (Mesa) but I've commuted like that before and things can get crazy - I'd rather drive. How far is Sedona from Phoenix? I'm looking forward to travelling back to AZ this winter to check out some of the towns/cities people have suggested.
