for about the past two years i've noticed a steady influx of texans in phoenix metropolitan area. from the east valley to the west valley i always see cars with texas license plates plastered on them.

has anyone else notice this? i don't get it. i thought texas was doing extremely well and texans always go on and on about how great texas is. plus many areas of texas are reminiscent of that of phoenix. dry desert, hot weather. why are they coming out here?

The oil market woes have been hard on Texas. That said, I haven't noticed a disproportionate number of Texas plates nor would I imagine that Arizona offers opportunities that Texas does not.

I see lots of Texas license plates here in Tucson but until they surpass the Californian license plates I won't call it a huge influx.

When I lived in Tucson from 2002 to 2007, one of the statistics I heard from people over that time (but could never verify it), was that the biggest group of people moving to Arizona were from California (probably still is), the next biggest group of people moving to Arizona were from Texas. I would guess some state agency, like the DMV and others would have the hard numbers of where people that move to Arizona are coming from.

Yes I have noticed and made mention of it to my wife. I wondered why I was seeing more Texas plated on the roads and meeting more people who moved here from there? I hadn't considered the downturn in the oil industry. Some of those I spoke with did mention job transfers and weather as reasons for their move. The lack of humidity and smaller tornado threat was also appealing.

Texan here lol Moved to Sierra Vista Az this past September. We have family here and also wanted to get away from the gulf coast and hurricanes plus humidity. We are really liking the drier weather and enjoying Az so far.

I see lots of Texas plates on I-10 here in Arizona....I just attribute it to that highway also going thru Texas and that they're headed here or to Cal for vacation or business

but now I wonder........
