I've only been here a couple of months ago but love it so far. I will take the bad (for me, the politics; not bad enough IMO to be a deal-breaker. No hater comments, please!) with the good; one thing we came to realize when looking for a place to retire is that no place is perfect... I moved here from Colorado; love Colorado but the Denver area is too crowded and winters are too cold.

I lived in the valley for 2 months, leaving Saturday actually. Its a very Unique area and has alot to offer. I came here to escape snow and cold as I prefer the heat , but not this much heat. Great place to live if you can stand the summers and desert scenery. I'm off to the Sacramento area after some hiking in the PNW to see if I like it better. It looks more green and way less people.

Remember, you and I were going to have coffee together once you moved to prove that left and right actually can get along.

I like that you tried the area, found you liked aspects of it, determined it ultimately was not the best fit and moved on without bashing it. I wish you the best in your search.

Came in Nov. Came here hating winter as much as you can hate it. But this climate isnt for me either. Id rather deal with some cold.

The desert scenery is beautiful in its way. But not to live in full time for us. It gets old fast. I much prefer Prescott and all the areas up that way. Im trying to get up there but rents are pretty nuts.

I moved here from California in 1990, so I guess not.

I've liked everywhere I've lived; there's always a trade-off.

The only thing I regret at the moment is my A/C unit's fan conked out today and the repair guy can't get here until Monday afternoon.

I look pretty hilarious sitting here typing between two tower fans which are running full blast. I've heard of hat hair and bed head; I currently have fan hair.

Good luck with your upcoming move.
