FWIW, I’m just returning from Los Algodones for dental work- the “closed border” thing had me worried, but I can confirm that US citizens are still able to cross for dental work, with minimal hassles. I crossed with an “enhanced” driver’s license & my travel companion used her passport.. my customs wait wasn’t instant, maybe 15 minutes, on a weekday.

The only caveat is that as of this minute, the border crossing closes at 2pm Arizona time, instead of like 10pm like it used to be. The dentists are well aware of this, and in my case, they worked like their hair was on fire to get my work done with plenty of time to get back through customs before the 2pm cutoff.

Awesome experience there, yet again- the dentists there could definitely teach dentists in the US a few things about getting their work done fast - four root canals with posts installed in one sitting, then stop by the next day for a short visit to have the new crowns placed..

Gawd I miss going to Los Algodones....I just had a quote for $8K in Raleigh to put crowns on 3 posts I had installed in Yuma some years back...
I could fly into Yuma and drive to the border cheaper than getting the work done here.
