I said Cali because it's easier to type than California and everyone knows what it means (yes I know there is a city by that name in Columbia)

On the renting versus buying question, I think that just depends on the situation of the person including how sure you're going to reside in a location for a significant amount of time, financial position, expectation of house prices and rents in the future, etc. Elon Musk rents and he seems pretty intelligent.

p.s. I own a couple of houses in Phoenix so I'm fine if it keeps on rising.
It's very cringey. Like "RoRo". If you're really interested in easy to type abbreviations, why not use the actual and shorter one; CA?

I think that depends on how old you are. But this would be way off topic.

LL was more popular in the 80's than Big, when he released his video in 1987. LL went on to television and film also.

Yep.

I lived in Oxnard for 3 years, heard it called Cali from non CA folks and locals would "correct" them.

Go to the California forums here and call it Kalifurnia. That's always fun!

But LL was more successful as an actor than as a rapper

"Why is calling California Cali so objectionable"....for the same reason you don't say Frisco to a San Franciscan.... Or saying Cinci to a Cincinnati resident...it is Cinti...same same. Regardless of how cool you want to come across, it just doesn't work.

We really want to buy but we are open to renting please let us know what are some good cities and what areas we should avoid.
Sierra Vista is a nice, family-friendly place to call home with a decent cost of living and safe vibe. It's also a lot more temperate down here, averaging about 10° cooler than Phoenix and about 5° cooler than Tucson. Jobs can be hard to come by if you don't work in Government though so be mindful of that fact first. Good luck escaping California
