Bingo!

States can find other ways to put pressure on the illegal immigrants, especially in the cases of states that are not doing so well in terms of their economies. If Arizona is being hit with a lot of foreclosures, I can see why the state wants to trim the illegal population.

Arizona wants to "trim" illegals because -

THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY AND COSTING THE TAXPAYERS A LOT OF MONEY

Any other questions?

Sure.
1. What causes Arizona to take tougher measures than, say, California, New Mexico, or Texas? (aside from a tough economic market in that state?)
2. Are there factors in Arizona that make illegal immigration more expensive than, in say, Texas?

No, I think it depends on whether the politicians in the state have the guts to enforce the immigration laws. The politicians in Calif. don't have the guts. They are running scared because the hispanic population here is huge. I can't wait to get out of here.

Truth?

Because Arizona still is a part of the USA; culturally speaking, and still has the courage to stand up to a bunch of PC traitors------who would gladly sell out Americans in favor of a bunch of illegal alien criminals from Mexico, etc.

Remember too there are quite a few people here from California who left that state due in part to its cowardly lack of law enforcement--------and, will not stand for Az being taken over without firing a (metaphorical) shot.

BECAUSE we were smarter - we were the FIRST to pass the employers sanctions law - which is now being modeled by other states.

One Sheriff was the FIRST in the nation to have his officers sworn as Federal officers so they could enforce immigration laws - a move now being followed by other jurisdictions around the country.

And so on.

Great point, ArizonaBear . . . count me as ONE OF THOSE CALIFORNIANS!

The decline and/or financial erosion began many years ago creating huge problems for "the working class" while the Bleeding Hearts, including many of the Politicians, continued to encourage and entice the illegals for their own personal agendas.

! ! ! ! ! !

I say we elect PONDEROSA to be the emperor of all illegal aliens, and PONDEROSA can personally fund every penny of their healthcare costs, schooling costs, welfare expenses, and food stamp/ICE offset costs for deportation, etc. etc. ad nauseum.
Every honest, hardworking, taxpaying American is paying for these people who leech off of our society, and make NO EFFORT whatsoever to assimilate into the American way of life. When my great great grandfather came to this country from Poland, he learned english, came here legally, and became a citizen. He did not try to push his agenda, language or customs on ANYONE indigenous to this country. Instead, the ILLEGALS these days get pissed off or frustrated when no one understands them. Try moving to France and then insist everyone speaks English to you- ha...good luck with THAT.
This doesn't appliyto many of the legal immigrants who come into this country and work hard, pay their taxes like everyone else, and CONTRIBUTE to this wonderful country. PONDEROSA would have us all feel guilty because we would even THINK of deporting the ILLEGAL poor, helpless and pathetic people- how dare we!! How dare we, we are such bigots, racists and self-centered egomaniacal idiots, aren't we?? Gimme a break, Ponderosa.
American people are fed up with paying higher taxes. Americans are fed up with seeing a Mexican flag being flown above an American flag in the United States of America. People are tired of going somewhere IN AMERICA where english is a second language. People are tired of illegal immigrants coming into this country and killing, raping, and stealing from law abiding CITIZENS. And then, to add insult to injury, our government tells us "tough sh**, illegals still have rights here, deal with it, and pay your taxes so we can help them". B.S.
It's people like YOU, who try to make us feel guilty for wanting to protect the sovereignty of our homeland by putting restrictions on what ILLEGALS have access to that is what's wrong these days. You feel sorry for them? You want them to come in here and live freely amongst us while NOT ONE of them pay taxes, have a social security number or even a driver's license? Then YOU pay for them. But when an ILLEGAL guns down your family or runs over your kid with their car don't come crying. And if you think I'm overexaggerating this kind of stuff, then watch the news or Americas Most Wanted reruns and you'll see that a majority of violent random crime is committed by illegal individuals (Mexican, Afghani, Chinese, or otherwise...no color boundaries here).
I am fully supportive of ANYONE from ANY country who comes to the United States and wants to live- LEGALLY. One who learns the native language-ENGLISH, and one who finds a job, pays his taxes and becomes successful. Lord knows there are plenty of success stories of these individuals. It's the trash that comes in here ILLEGALLY that is expecting a free handout, has kids in this country solely on the basis that it provides protection, and commits crime when he/she realizes that it's not that easy to make it here that I have a problem with, as do many of the other people here.
But to call people bigots or racists because they are frustrated about this is plain old idiocy.

AMEN, Rich . . . I could not agree more!

I am always amazed at the ridiculous "bleeding heart" statements made by otherwise intelligent, level headed individuals defending the rights of common criminals who entered this country illegally primary for the freebies and personal gain at the expense of others (aka: The Taxpayers of The United States).

These individuals always become speechless when asked to determine the source of the funds required to support these freebies.
