My boyfriend and I are in our early twenties, and we have decided to move to Arizona for a few months this winter. We enjoy hiking and experiencing new things. Any ideas for where a young couple, who wish to avoid the big cities while still living among a mix of cultures and people, should live? are there any cities that seem to sway more towards a "natural" life?

I would suggest northern Arizona, around Flagstaff. Yes, that is where it can snow in the winter, but it is still a fairly temperate winter climate compared to a lot of other places, and the area has the right "vibe" for what you are looking for, as well as natural food stores and other related services. Further south in the Verde Valley, in the Camp Verde or Cottonwood areas might work also.

Lake Havasu City starts to get nice around the middle October. The weather starts to cool down. Have a car show in late October. Plenty of places to hike,or even rent a boat and go out for the day.Plenty of bars in this town catering to the younger crowds. There is a casino across the lake but during the winter it fills up with snowbirds. However Laughlin is only an hour away. While you are are visting you may want to travel to other close by locations such as Oatman, just off of route 66 cool old town, nice shops and even a gun fight(role playing on the streets). Hopefully you are just visiting as if looking for jobs they are hard to come by. Depends what you mean by "natural" If meaning nudity then there are plenty of coves on the lake you could hide out in. If you are talking Healthy more Natural foods there is a couple of stores in the town you can buy from. Good luck in your search. Bring sunscreen no matter what time of year our sun is strong.

I really enjoyed living in Globe, AZ, an old mining area. It is a small artsy type town, eclectic, good hiking. Is about 1 1/2 to 2 hr away from Phoenix and Tucson. Would go over to Tucson every weekend for shopping, etc. Very nice drive through the mountains. Same can be said of Jerome, AZ near Sedona, a mile high up a mountain. Very beautiful scenery and good hiking as well. Also artist colony, probably very expensive. But at least is worth a visit!

If by "natural" you mean naturist or alternative lifestyle with acceptance of the occasional trip via something besides a vehicle, and want a small town experience, try Bisbee. Enough winter to know you're in a season, warmer than most anything east of the rockies and definitely open to alternative lifestyles.Rentals are cheap, mountains, nearby areas with vistas and day trip drivable to snowy climes.
