Hello everyone! I am considering moving to Arkansas and have a few questions. I am looking for a place that has LOW crime rate and is sunny most of the time. Cold weather does not bother me but I do like the sun. Would like good schools and quality health care for my son. If I do decide to move I will rent for the first year to see how I like it. Would like rent under 2,000 a month. Would be nice if the area also had clean water and air. I would also like a place that has nice mountains..such as Hot Springs..but without the crime.

for under 2000 a month for you and your son? You can live anywhere..well almost.

Im in russellville, around 30 000 people. Its an hour from little rock, hour and half thru the mountains to hot springs. 2hours from Fayetteville, so its nice. Also you mentioned the mountains we are right around the ozarks. with mt. nebo and pettit jean near by.

Fayetteville NW Arkansas area is quickly growing along with central arkansas spreading out from little rock.

Im not sure how this effects you but russellville is a dry county, with the closest liqour store being a 20minute drive. Some people like that aspects because they think it keeps crime out, some don't.. either way, just an FYI

I live here in Fayetteville and it seems to fit what you are looking for. I am a single mother of 2 (6&10) and I have lived here since 2003. It is a very clean and pretty town nestled in the mountains, small town feel (but not to small) but the has much to offer in the way of cultural events, etc. It is VERY safe. The rental properties abound (due to it being a college town) and for 2000 a month you really could live ANYWHERE! I rent a 3bdr 2 bath house with a yard and garage for 750 a month. As far as the schools- I really can only vouch for the elementary schools. There are 6 or 7 -and not one of them is a bad school. Don't know much about jr high or high schools.Air quality is good, however the water in our (at least in our part of town tastes awful). Hope this helps.

This is why I have always drank bottled water.

Now that's something I never really noticed while living in Fay. It was a little more chlorinated than other places I've lived but still not too bad to my palate. Except of course in the spring time when the lake turned over...

What I mean by clean water are the lakes and creeks. I only drink filtered water so I am not worried about the tap water.
