And here's the location of the Nazi flag house.

https://www.google.com/maps/@36.2469...8i6656!6m1!1e1

It now has about four Nazi flags across the front of the house.

Yes, AR folks are nice and friendly, but if we weren't older white folks we would have been really uncomfortable.

So, given we have a choice of where to move, this isn't it. While it is true, as some have stated, that it's good to have these attitudes 'out of the closet' it also gives the area a tinge. It's one thing to see the hog farm, another to move downwind of it.
I guess for some it I easy to mistake a confederate flag for a Nazi flag. Ar might not be your cup of tea but I will say it again, AR is very diverse, we know people of all colors and religions, this is not the AR of the 1960s and it appears the flag was not a Nazi flag. There is a huge difference between the Nazi flag and the confederate flag. I hope you are not telling people back home there are houses n AR. flying Nazi flags.

Now, if the house does exist or the flags do, how come you were able to post a pic of the house with just a Confederate flag, and no Nazi flag? I am a bit confused. I am sure many are.

Flying a confederate flag is offensive to some, but the flag he is referring to isn't a Nazi flag and shouldn't be thought of as one.

The picture is a google shot from 3 years ago. The poster says that there are now nazi flags hanging from the house. And the two flags are very distinct from one another, so I'm inclined to think the poster knows what he saw.

At the same time, I don't believe that this one house is representative in any way of Arkansas or how Arkansans think. But I can understand a person's alarm at possibly living close to someone who promotes racism and white supremacy.

One lone house, behind a gated road, wouldn't bother me a bit .
Especially if I wasn't planning on buying the house next to him.

[i]am not disagreeing with you necessarily and I agree one house does not represent an entire town or state, but my response has more to do with his claiming there are Nazi flags and yet showing a picture 3 years old. One has nothing to do with the other. Yes, they are very different flags, again that is why I question why he bothered to post? I guess it doesn't make much difference. He sees Ar differently than many based on one experience and one location or region. I am sure he will find somewhere else better suited to what he is looking for. I am just sorry to see someone being so judgmental based on one issue.

unfortunately this happens from time to time. I think had the responder simply mentioned he felt the region he visited wasn't what he was looking for in a future home. Most of us know there are areas of the state that are still living in the 50s, but this isn't the majority of the state.

What's wrong with the 50s? I grew up in the 50s and 60s. Best time to be a kid!!! Yes problems back then but nothing like what is going on in the world today. I enjoy the benefits of the so called modern world (health care, etc when you can afford it). But in many ways the 50s were better times. Many times I wish I could go back to the 50s for just a little while so I could appreciate it because I didn't know how good I had it then. I worry for my grandchildren growing up nowadays. Shame we can't take the best of both eras and blend them together!!

BTW one of the reasons I'm moving to Arkansas shortly is because it reminds me so much of the farm area I grew up in. Gotta love Arkansas.

Hey NMNITA not giving you a hard time, I've always enjoyed your posts

Heck I am older than you: And yes, the 50s were a wonderful time to be a kid or a young married person. I was mainly slapping back at anyone who thinks our state is filled with bigotry. thus the comment about the 50s in regards to race.

I totally agree with you. I have had retirement land in Arkansas for over 10 years and we visit twice a year each year and have yet to see any problems with bigotry. Our neighbors are the best and everybody we've dealt with have always been so good!! I'm not saying there isn't any bigotry in Arkansas but I've seen so much more in the mid-Atlantic area than out in Arkansas. We can't wait to move there permanently once we get our house sold at the MD/PA line. If anybody wants to join the rat race up this way we have a 4 1/2 acre horse farm for sale....ah not any takers on the Arkansas forum...not surprised!! LOL!!
