Do yourself a favor, and just go drive down Midland Blvd. Midland is Pine Bluff, just the smaller version.

My main gripe about PB is that there are so few stores/services available. The PB mall (appropriately named "The Pines") looks like Ft. Smith's old Phoenix Village mall (right before they tore it down). There is a shoe store, five closed stores, a dollar store, five closed stores, and another shoe store. I went there last year and asked one of the people, "Where is the new mall?" assuming that this one was the old, abandoned mall. Of course, they replied that The Pines is indeed the only mall.

Look at the population numbers. There must be a reason that every census show a decline in population. Maybe it is the unfathomably high crime rate?

This speaks for itself:

We just returned from Pine Bluff....I wouldn't suggest staying there. There aren't even any decent hotels. Very impoverished. I would say at least 80% of businesses are closed. Scary area. We did visit Hot Springs and it is beautiful. A little touristy but you get a much different feeling than you do when in Pine Bluff. It is already warm there so don't worry about the weather for golfing.

Im from Kansas City, but attend college at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. I am soo ready to go. Pine Bluff is bad in areas, but just like any other city you have a nice area as well. There are a few ok hotel maybe not 4 or 5 star hotels, but ther are some decent ones and newer as well. The mall isn't much at all, but I go to little rock often so no problem just waiting for next year to come so I can go back home. I will say pine bluff is not a tourist place it really isn't, and it is bad in areas, but I don't think you are going to get shot in your face. Your car could get broken into though lol happen to me and my girlfriend. Food wise you have chili's and red lobster. You have locally owned places as well Charile D's (best cat fish place in town to me.) Charlie D's came down from KC and open a location here he is from Pine Bluff. Leons(another catfish place). El Sol(mexican, really good.)Thats about it lol. Honestly out side of football season its not to much to do. Its not Big 12 football or SEC football, but its still an experience with the bands playing and they fraternities and sororities stepping at the games. Other than that you won'tlike pine bluff if you came to visit unless you knew crazy fun people. There is a couple golf course here as well. They need to build a new mall I think out near where wal mart is. Pine Bluff if got better development and if a little lower in crime would be decent if they build up out here, still would stay here though LOL. But will love to visit for UAPB HOMECOMING when I leave.

If "everywhere" is Kansas City and Pine Bluff.
Maybe you're thinking of Captain D's, and they're not everywhere either.

If the original posters want an idea of Pine Bluff, it is a little bigger than Quincy, IL, with the demographics and tourism amenities of Gary, Indiana.
