Excellent. Imagine what pennyone would have to say.
Something about Japan, America's impotence in the face of China's throbbing muscle of middle kingdom power and justice... And how backwards it is to eat dogs?
Seriously, though...
China would be really angry. Japan would support the statement, as would other nations that rely heavily on the US' influence. Russia, Iran, North Korea, and a handful of African states would join China in their condemnation.
Isn't the US already doing that? What kind of a question is this?
Actually you have a point. I suppose the question is meant to be "should the US support Taiwan as an independent country?" as now it's supporting Taiwan as...something else?

What? What "else"? What is Taiwan, if not an independent country? Last I heard, it wasn't a province of the US or Japan, nor of the PRC, despite the latter's wishful thinking.

I repeat: " "
Taiwan is run like a independent state however officially it is claimed by the PRC despite it being governed independently. No one acknowledges this discrepancy due to the fact that no one wants to upset China. However I propose we simply launch an invasion of China and depose of the despots.
I suppose I could look it up, but didn't the US vote to unseat Taiwan from the UN and seat the PRC? Something like that.
The again, we have a treaty obligation to defend Taiwan. I believe.
US needs to not stick its nose where it doesn't belong.
