Ditto what Aries4118 said...

This would be the perfect location to build a well designed, sleek and urban WalMart that will take into the account the Rich History of the area (Atlanta University Center, Hunter Street Business District) to incorporate it with the general "The Westside" area. The area on MLK is extremely walkable with good traffic with the existing restaurants, salons, banks and Universities walking distance in the area and A Marta Station (Ashby) smack dab in the middle of it all. If they put a well sleek and sexy WalMart in the model of the above in the area this area will definitely explode with it's close proximity to everything in the city. I'm hoping the WalMart design team is on it and will take the aforementioned into account.

I found this article on Wal-Mart retooling it's business strategy to focus on smaller, community tailored stores Urban stores which implies they really have a chance to do something special with this location. I cannot wait to see the designs for this store!

Another recent article about Wal-Mart's ITP expansion: Wal-Mart eyes smaller stores to keep growing in Atlanta.

If Wal-Mart's hellbent on being intown, where else should they go?

How about a multi-level Walmart taking up several floors in the old Sears building / Ponce City Center.

I think this is a great idea for AUC students.

Great look. Now I can walk up to Walmart after getting my haircut on MLK

Ugh. I wish local businesses could come in instead. Yes this means jobs, but Walmarts aren't exactly great for the long-term local economy.

Not to be a jerk, but its not like the current efforts of attracting local businesses are yielding any results. Have you been down there recently? Ugh.

Default a bit off subject

Does anyone else notice that Walmart is louder and more chaotic than Target. I mean i get the low prices may attract a certain clientele , and im not referring to black just low income period.........but TARGET is not more expensive than walmart in a lot of areas...why is it so pleasent to shop there? And target has no problems with man locations inside 285.

The idea around Walmart is to attract the common man / low budget crowd. Target purposely targets the more "classy" market
