He made it safe and sound home around 12:30. Said there was no real icing except for of course around the bridges.

So all in all it took him about 3 hours to go from the airport to Woodstock.

However, I am thinking that tomorrow will be a snow day as well and maybe Wednesday, if the roads don't clear?!?

Enjoy it and be careful!

6.25 inches here in Cherokee County. From 11:15 to sometime around dawn, an extra 4.75 inches fell.

Maybe 4" in West Cobb. From the TV news, one would assume we got 4 feet.

I have about 7 inches here in the Brookhaven/Chamblee area.

And Neil, it IS a big deal. The city is shut down - this isn't Boston.

I spoke to friends in the Mableton area, located in South Cobb, and they informed me that they only had about 2-3 inches. That area seems to have received the least snow of areas within metro Atlanta that are above I-20.

7 inches? Are you sure you're not measuring drifts? When the wind is blowing and snow drifts, it looks like more than it really is.

I know it's a big deal, but come on. People wrapped around telephone poles and into medians has nothing to do with geography and everything to do with stupidity in most cases. The major roads are slick but you have to drive for the conditions.

Newsflash.... up north they don't plow the first couple of inches right away. People drive on it...carefully. Not comparing, but the hysteria here is just a bit more than it really needs to be. The TV news people feed that hysteria when they show video of two snowflakes landing on bare ground and telling people to run for their lives.

We had what I consider to be 3" here in West Cobb. I'll say 4 inches so as not to minimize the disaster.
