Well, a lot of those folks are going to eat lunch after church. This would be a great spot for a new Piccadilly.

Uh ... Churches have a right to build somewhere. And it's not like they're getting the land or building or utilities for free. They still have to PAY for all that. People will make money off this deal.

I'm just glad it's an urban/progressive/moderate Passion City Church, and not some crazy Baptist thing or something.

I am referring to the point that the church will be paying $0 in property taxes. I do not see a church of this size, being built in the county's largest employment center a good idea. Just like Buckhead Church should not have been built or leased space in Tower Place. It is not good use of land.

Why so, cq? The church specifically built it so that it could be converted and sold some day, and they also developed it with shared parking.

Speaking as an atheist who strongly opposes church tax exemption, even I will admit that this particular youth-oriented church might help to increase the residential viability and attractiveness of Cumberland.

There's still plenty of space around the area to develop plenty of stuff.

From what I can see around me, primaltech, more young folks should be attending wholesome youth oriented programs and activities. ...

Unfortunately, some of the worst people I know went to such programs in their youth. Sometimes the effect is the opposite of what is intended.

That's interesting, rc. Why do you suppose that is?
