It would have made for a great iconic building for GSU.

Anyway, hope the new owners get burned and go bankrupt.
Please move far away.

My company was in that building for eleven years, but we moved to the 191 Building. Their is hardly anyone left in the building. I think Equitable should have let Georgia State University purchase the building when they were interested in the building.

Nobody on this forum is more PRO GSU expansion than I am. However, it's a good thing for downtown that they didn't get the Equitable. GSU is going to expand no matter what. The fact that they can't have this building (maybe they'll get it someday) meantsthey'll have to build somewhere else, which is exactly what they're doing on a bunch of derelict property on JW Dobbs.

Win win.

If the plan is approved, America’s Capital Partners promises to transform the 33-story landmark tower with a new glossy exterior; an expanded and remodeled lobby; a redesigned streetscape and plaza to complement Woodruff Park; new shops and restaurants; and a mock courtroom ...
Huh? Are they going to start filming Judge Judy in Atlanta?

As always, I have to agree with Nairobi. Hope they don't take down the E Q U I T A B L E sign. Looks likely they will though.

Being so close to the various state, city and federal courts, they're probably building a fake courtroom in hopes of leasing space to law firms.

Such nice views of the park from the Equitable building.
How? They don't own the park.

No, GSU has few options to build and downtown real estate is very high cost even in bad times. That building with GEORGIA STATE on top with its close location to its proposed new Business School building and being close to Peachtree Center MARTA and having a Peachtree Street address (nice touch for a business school) would have been ideal. In fact, I'd like to see the whole of Woodruff Park surrounded by GSU. This is a huge setback to that dream. Of all the downtown buildings, I'd like GSU to have that one. Highrise tenants can go anywhere but GSU has few options.

Hope the new owners go bankrupt and are convicted by the IRS for tax evasion. Think I'll make a point of feeding the pigeons and the homeless around that building. Maybe open a nearby homeless shelter too.

Obviously not true, as they are having no trouble at all finding places to expand. If it was as hard as you say, they would have snatched up the Equitable in a heartbeat.

Hoping for someone else's failure is pathetic.

????? The fact that they couldn't snatch up the Equitable building indicates how hard it is for them. So you really think GSU obtaining surrounding real estate is easy? GSU couldn't afford the price for the old Ramada property that another developer has taken. The property slated for new Business and Law schools required the owner lowering the price substantially as a gesture to GSU. Hands down, GSU of all Georgia schools has the most difficulty expanding.
