I don't expect any of this to pass. Maintaining status quo is much better than the socioeconomic Pandora's box that bringing Milton Co. back into being (or any other "reform" that involves restructuring or consolidating counties) would kick wide open.

Wow. The Fulton County Commission is not taking this lying down.
They have passed a resolution (5-2) blasting the state legislature for trying to redistrict Fulton in a way that would dilute the strength of minority voters and take away the protections of county workers.
The fiery comments show just how strongly people in Fulton feel about this.

I was thinking of having Fulton absorb DeKalb, but the powers-that-be in DeKalb County would not go away quietly. There are a LOT of fiefdoms over there.

In the State Senate yes, I think they do by a very slim margin. Technically, in the house no because there is at least one or two independents.
However, don't presume that all Republicans will support this. Many won't and it will all be about what Albers has to offer to "buy" votes.

Check out this map from 1832 before Milton existed. Cobb went all the way to present day Johns Creek. Note that there is no Fulton at all, no Clayton, no Douglas, no Rockdale. I say go back to this map, this is closer to the size a county should be.
