nrgpill,

Most things in life are in a state of transition, and nothing remains the same forever. However, rapid change is not good.

One of the major strengths of Atlanta has been affordable housing compared to many areas in the country. I agree with you that maybe Atlanta is too affordable for its own good. As a consequence of its affordability, we're experiencing tremendous growing pains.

The number of very large Sunbelt cities with affordable housing is becoming less and less. Atlanta, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Houston, are about the only cities left. I'm speaking of cities with populations of around 4,000,000

The bargains in Las Vegas are gone. Until five years ago, homeowners were lucky to make a profit if they bought a house. In only three or four years, Vegas housing prices doubled. Orlando used to have inexpensive housing not that long ago. The housing prices in Phoenix used to be very comparable to Atlanta prices. Not now!!!

Default Atlanta

kaday,

I have no idea as to whether you'll like Atlanta, but it's a great city.

Where you ultimately decide to live is very important. If you don't like where you're living in the metro Atlanta area, that's going to affect your perceptions negatively.

As a few posters have said, take your time before you make big decisions like buying a house. Sometimes, people do find the right house, at the right price, in the right area and everything works out, but it's probably best to take things slowly.

Hope you've got a home based business, if not be prepared to drive drive drive in traffic traffic traffic. The air quality is lousy too, but to finish on a positive note - lots of shop shop shopping & restaurant restaurant restaurant-ing. Get a treadmill or join a gym and drive drive drive in the traffic traffic traffic to get there to workout & keep your waistline under control.

Default Technology Park

Is East Cobb a good location for commuting here? I've found the actual address of where my spouse may be working. Is there anything better for this commute?
