JESUS WAS POOR
Most New Testament scholars don't believe the wise men from the East story is literally true: Biblical scholars say the story about the wise men from the East giving treasure to baby Jesus appears in only one of the four Gospels. New Testament scholar John Dominic Crossan says the story "is absolutely parabolic."
Roman soldiers gambled for the clothes of many condemned criminals:
"It was ordinary for prisoners to be stripped naked and looted by soldiers," says Sondra Ely Wheeler, an ethicist at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., and author of "Wealth as Peril and Obligation: The New Testament on Possessions" (Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing, $20). Wheeler says the soldiers also were gambling for the robe Herod placed on Jesus to mock him. "I'm sure that was expensive — he got it from Herod."

The text doesn't say that Judas was a treasurer, only that he held the common purse: Neither the King James nor the New International Version of the Bible calls Judas the "treasurer." The NIV calls him the "keeper of the money bag," and the King James says he "had the bag." Scholars say he held the money not for Jesus but for all the disciples, a common custom of the time for itinerant preachers. "To call Judas a treasurer is like looking at two kids who go to the movies and calling the one who holds the money the treasurer," Wheeler says.

Jesus did not have a lucrative occupation: Crossan says the Greek word in Matthew for Jesus' occupation has been translated into carpenter, but a more accurate translation would change the word to a laborer.

Jesus and his disciples were poor, according to archaeological evidence: Eric Meyers, a professor of archaeology at Duke University and editor of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Archaeology in the Near East, says he has personally excavated the village of Nazareth where Jesus lived. He pointed out that the Bible says Jesus was so poor that he couldn't afford his own tomb for his burial. "There is no way to speak of wealth in that context," he says. "This is living at the margins of society, eking out an agricultural existence."
Wealthy people were viewed with hostility: Obery M. Hendricks Jr., author of "The Politics of Jesus" (Doubleday, $26), says wealthy people of Jesus' time were people who preyed upon the poor or collaborated with the Romans.
"To have a whole lot meant that I stole it from somewhere else," he says. "The only way you could really become rich was by exploiting others."
Well argued. However they are a bunch of opinions that you seem to use to counter any agrument against Creflo dollar and his following. You could have just said well; I DON'T LIKE CREFLO DOLLAR AND HIS MINISTRY!

To tell you the truth. I know very little about Creflo Dollar. I did some quick research after reading how much he brought in in revenues. I figured, prehaps he was using most of this money to help Atlanta become a safer place. Maybe he was building large facilities that helped care for the young, poor, children of Atlanta while their parents were unavailable to them. There is so much than can be done with $69M, but after I read about what Mr.$$ was doing with his money, like living in luxury, I wanted to hurl. It is only at that point that I decided that I didn't like Creflo and his Money Ministry.

I DON'T LIKE CREFLO DOLLAR AND HIS MINISTRY!
The only person really getting prosperous from prosperity gospel is him! 69 million in one year! Imagine if that money was spread around the congregation-maybe they wouldn't need to 'bus in' members who can't afford cars!

...I wonder how many in his congregation are affected by the subprime loan problem and bought a house they couldn't afford but thought they deserved.

Default whoopi doo you.

I'm sure the person was speaking in general when speaking of rap feeding the kids. So "YOUR" two kids listen to classical and jazz...well give you a medal, if that's really true (because kids listen to all kinds of stuff when not around parents or with other young people) again if that is true, great...twokids out of two million probably because most aren't listening to classical and rap... so, what about the: other kids, or is it all about your two and no more.

People are known by their fruits. I don't know how you are saying Creflo is a "man of God", when Jesus himself said that men like him will hardly reach heaven.

You are equating having lots of money(prosperity) with 'godliness'. Interesting, when Jesus said just the opposite.

As a responsible parent, I'd like to deny my award. I'm doing my job, but I'm missing your point. So lots of kids are into raunchy music. And? What's next? Christian gangbangers? Christ-centered porn? Come on. Adding the word Jesus to something doesn't make it OK.

Default While you are judging someone God is judging you.

I see every one wants to talk bad about the preachers, trying to reep a harvest and then sow it back to reach millions in this world about Jesus Christ the Savior so we would not end up in Hell. Any way if the preachers didn't have the money, they would not be able to travel and spread the "WORD OF THE LORD TO THE WORLD", and alot of us would be lost and never come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. And another thing I see every one talking about the preacher getting money, but what about all these "rappers" getting money the wrong way and using it to damage the minds of the world by putting out foolish music talking about murdering and killing someone, and calling our beautiful woman "B's" and "H's" what is the morality and justification in that kind behavior but yet you can talk about the true preachers that have been called by God to do his will, and save souls that are dieing and being killed daily from perishing to an everlasting damnation. Which is Hell.

You mean that is what they listen to when YOU are in the car. Just like mine listen to country when I am in the car. But if you check their Ipods you might get a real surprise!
