The rookies are hitting on all cylinders already and don't appear to be overwhelmed. There is a chance both rookie LB's are starting week one. Another player I liked was Sean Weatherspoon. Even though he has battled injuries he came out with a fire that this team hasn't had in years, fingers crossed he stays healthy finally. The offense was a bit lackluster with Matt Ryan going 0-4. The protection up front seems a load better with Alex Mack but the guards still had trouble with protections. Overall its preseason but compared to past years this teams seems so much better. Hopefully it can translate to on the field.

No playoffs as I see it, time for a retooling and a new QB, in waiting. Ryan is not the answer.
Ryan has, what, two seasons left on his contract including this one? It's gonna be do-or-die time for him.

Matt Ryan staying around for another season quickly ruins the Falcons' offense. His time is already up.

Julio Jones will remain limited in what he can do with the Falcons' limited offense.

If I were the Falcons, I would seriously consider separating from Thomas Dimitroff and hire a new general manager with football knowledge that makes wise decisions.

Realistically speaking, though, what can the Falcons do with Ryan except start him?

The Falcons should have addressed Ryan already. This offseason was one they should have shopped for a quarterback via free agency or through trade. That did not happen.

Ryan will get starts this season. The offensive will not be on the field much.

I don't think we should be so quick to count Matt Ryan out before the season starts. There were problems with the OL part of the time the past couple of seasons that caused him to look terrible and he HAS been one of the top 5 QBs prior to now so he can still be great with the right team around him. Keep in mind that someone has been throwing those passes to Julio Jones - they didn't throw themselves. You may be right, but at least wait until we get into the season before giving up. Good god.

Very true...and often great athletes step up to the plate when it's do-or-die. We shall see.

Even with a functioning, effective offensive line, Ryan has been on the decline in recent seasons. Why bother repairing a blown engine?

"On a decline" doesn't mean over and done. He can still have a great season or two. He's 31, not 40. I've seen plenty of QBs have a bad season and come back great, so it's not impossible. Let's play the season before we write him off.

Yep. I think he's got a few more seasons left in him.
