Corrected title: Any opinions ON Atlanta mainstream hip hop (trap)?

Personally, I think it's garbage, and has gotten dramatically worse over the years to the point where it's hard to listen to. But I hear the music playing out loud somewhere at least once a day. I'm talking Young Thug, Future, Migos, Rich Homie Quan, Young Dolph, Young Scooter, Skippa Da Flippa, etc

I see young kids here really look up to Future as some kind of musical king of their city. A bit sad.

I do listen to it on occasion when it comes on the radio, some of the songs are catchy, just don't attempt to deconstruct them or listen to the lyrics. I'm a millennial, we had our crap music in our highschool and college years too.

As far as the demographics I'd say middle school to college students age even post college age in their late 20's early 30's, race doesn't matter all races listen to it.

I love rap,but man those rappers you mention are pure garbage and matter of fact i dont even think their rapping. The music is awful I dont know if its a atlanta thing or something because were im from houston we listen to real rappers who rap about real stuff. The soul in music now a days is gone,i dont even listen to the radio.I mainly listen to underground rap or old school rap.Atlanta needs Jesus espically the young kids i agree 100% with your post though.

Trap music has taken over the world, I am from England and people of all races love it. I was in Dubai and Barcelona this year and all they played in the clubs was trap. The lyrics are mostly garbage but it's the beats that gets people into it. Europeans like the genre because it is close to EDM and dubstep. Trap music will be here to stay for a long time

I Love Trap! This is our party music. You listen it for the beat, base and to party. Not to diagnose and analyze. Trap is to Atlanta as House is to Miami

Hip hop music has progressed in a bad direction since 2003 (see Get Rich or Die Trying) The trap thing has a big influence on many black youth both the women and the men. Its the cool thing right now. Im looking forward to the day that sort of music is regulated to the ghetto ears its intended for. Im getting old but I remember the days when 2 Live Crew, NWA and many of 2Pacs rougher songs were not on the radio. You had to have the cassette tape to hear those songs. He11 not even all of MC Hammers songs were played on the radio. Most of todays music is throw away anyway. Here today gone tomorrow music. They just killed the Bankroll Fresh guy over a sandwich or soda the other day. These rapper guys take themselves way too seriously. See Birdman's Breakfast Club interview where a black man born in 1969 behaves like a child born in 1998. Its embarrassing man, and Birdman is supposed to be the leader of these younger guys. The fans are a big part of this problem especially young white fans. They buy the music to feel tough. Which fuels the Jew record execs to produce more of this music for the whites that actually buy most of these records. I just saw the 2chains THOT video...maybe 3 days ago. I had never seen it but heard about it in passing. Embarrassing!! I thought sex with a woman was a goal for many of these rapper guys? Maybe the goal is sex with men. 2Chains behavior was absolutely terrible in that clip and the girl tried so hard to play it off but my discerning eye could see her eyes watering. If he didnt want her there, have security escort her out. Atlanta youth is the king of this knucklehead "Im better than you culture" and it makes Atlanta suck. Ready for the days of Drug Dealing - Stripper music to go out of style already man. Its the only Rap we hear now.

Everyone listens to trap since it is the mainstream standard now, just like crunk was 8 years ago. I especially like the edm variety of it.
