I hope they install color LCD screens on board the train that display a map or diagram of the trains position in relation to each station.

Wi-Fi is awesome, but what would be even more awesome is seamless cell coverage in the stations and tunnels. Does T-Mobile or some other carrier already have signal underground? I occasionally see someone talking on the phone at Peachtree Center and wonder how they are doing that.

According to this article there's a pilot program that includes Peachtree Center running now.

If all goes as planned, a six-month pilot project would start in January with three stations — Five Points, Peachtree Center and Georgia Dome/Georgia World Congress Center and inside a tunnel that connects them. All 38 stations would feature cellular connectivity and Wi-Fi access by July 2018. The $25 million system would be designed, installed and maintained at no cost to MARTA.

Not sure if I'm happy about this. It's been nice knowing that a cell phone yacker is going to have to shut up once the train goes into the Arts Center tunnel.

I tried checking this out yesterday at Peachtree Center, but I didn't have a signal on AT&T or see any wireless networks. Someone else on the platform was talking on the phone though.

I really hope the tunnel/station signal is full capacity. The bus wifi is riding on the extra bandwidth from the camera system, so it isn't going to let people watch Netflix as they ride. It's more for light browsing and email.

No thanks. I like to be able to maintain situational awareness when in a public space.
