My interest has piqued in buying a condo DT. I am looking to stay above Marietta St, but close to it. The wife would not be comfortable south of there (she's not too comfortable w/ north of Marietta either TBH). Just seems like a pretty good 10-15 year investment.

The Underground + Peachtree St south of 5 pts redevelopments are the start of a good thing for the area. With the city so on board with redeveloping Underground, I expect/hope they will help in policing the area better and not making it such a zone of tolerance for vagrancy etc. No reason the center of Atlanta should be such a zombieland.

Yep. Now is the time to buy in downtown. 1 bed condos can be had under $100k, 2 bed for under $200k.

I just closed on my new place in south downtown a couple months ago. I bought an entire 6,000 sf building a block away from MARTA for less than my old 800 sf condo in midtown.

jsvh, I hope you don't forget your old buddies on city-data.

I will be glad to blow off your sidewalks and take out the trash.

Yeah, well the asterisk is that the renovations will cost just as much. And I am sure many people won't want to come visit me until the area as a whole changes.
