Downtown would be crazy with the Turner Field and UA redevelopment plus this

By this logic we should just put a toxic waste dump there, since "anything" would be a better alternative.

The gulch should be reserved for the MMPT. Period. That, and the associated developments, will employ MANY more people, produce much more tax revenue, and produce much more foot-traffic for local stores than any casino could.
Exactly, we don't need more of the breakup that is already seen, the dome and GWCC aren't good, so why put a third thing there, to ruin any sense of neighborhood in an area that is trying to get one.

Once UA gets redone, hopefully, Turner Field and one or two other developments, the growth of downtown will be organic and comfortable, yet we should throw another huge block right in the middle.

There is no necessity for it to be downtown, sure tourism is down there, but plenty of places have casinos out of the way and they are still very busy because they are destinations.

I still have yet to see anyone who actually lives in Atlanta advocate for a casino in the part of the city where they live. Until that happens, you're all just trying to play in someone else's sandbox.

So you are only worried about the aspect of a superblock ruining a community but you are ok with alcohol and tobacco ruining a community ?

Buckhead is 10 minutes away from downtown... that's not exactly close. And no one is making an argument based on morality, so sit that straw man down.

10 mins walking
5 mins driving

Plus most people are hypocrites. They are against a casino in downtown because it doesnt connect to the street/etc but they are ok with all the other high rises and other developments that are the same but at a smaller scale. But I'm not trying to blab and blab about this because its a waste of time.

All I'm saying if one is against a casino because its a super block but they have supported the Ga Dome, the new stadium, PA, etc then they are a hypocrite.

If someone is against it because of their personal opinion but they drink alcohol, smoke dope, have sex, cheat on their taxes, etc then they are also a hypocrite.

And if someone would rather for the Gulch to just stay abandoned instead of being redeveloped into a casino then Im definitely not wasting my time going back and forth with them. Sure keep the Gulch abandoned. Sure that train station will be built there soon. Just keep the Gulch looking like it is as a big ass parking lot in the middle of downtown. Lets keep Downtown Atlanta GREAT!!!

Great, so we are hypocrites when it comes to a downtown casino. Now that it is out of the way, we can discuss how a casino would not improve the community around it. I can already tell you the casino would require a massive parking garage, thousands of parking spots and forget about asking them to use surrounding lots. If they are going to spend $2B, they want their own garage.

You pasted the wrong script. The comment above didn't say that people in the area don't support gambling.

Most supporting drinking alcohol, premarital sex etc. doesn't mean if someone said "I really don't think most people in the area support people having sex in the park..." Would your response be the same? Because that is the logic, such as it is, that you applied.
