Economic opportunity! The red states are significantly out performing the blue and have been for a while.

In what way? black population is not growing as a %. Hispanic and Asians are but they are already concentrated in blue states and are mixing with whites in large numbers. I think most white-hispanics white-asians identify as white? no?

You know, its a funny thing. All humans actually age over time. Do you think conservatives "had anything" for 20 year olds a generation ago? Very little.

Perspectives change.

But this Trump **** is a whole different thing.

Yes, and no. Notice that most of the economic growth in red states is in blue cities - Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Raleigh, etc.

Most of those blue cities have red suburbs that outweigh them.

Yes, but I still sense a shift in values between that generation and the previous one. That's not altogether a bad thing, either.

The white birth rate is below replacement (the black birth rate may be also). The driver of population growth in the US is immigration, which favors the democrats (and maybe increasing life expectancy—but there is a limit to that). Whether Hispanics self-idnetify as white doesn’t really matter if they vote disproportionately Democratic. That is where the growth is (both by fertility rates and immigration). Maybe some states up north may move a little more Republican, but the southern states are changing too. With decent leadership and some luck, Republicans may be able to do ok in the short term, but I don’t see how it will be sustainable in the long term.

Just saw my first two Lance-Bottoms signs today, but not in yards, but in the public right-of-way. Her signs are conspicuously absent from the East-side neighborhoods. Really, you see signs for everyone except her—you see Fort signs in Druid Hills, but can’t find a Lance-Bottms sign anywhere. Maybe these two signs are the beginning of a push on the east side, or maybe she just figures that they aren’t worth the effort until the runoffs. If the polls are correct, she would be right.

I think her people are correct. Fort signs in Druid Hills seem like a total waste of resources.

It is hard to argue with success.
