Let's be honest.. the whole point of brunch is so that people can indulge in a more morally acceptable form of day drinking. On any other day, if you had an alcoholic drink before noon people might say you have a drinking problem and needed an intervention. Otherwise brunch is just overpriced breakfast with the benefit of paying too much for cheap vodka or champagne diluted with Clamato or orange juice. I'm all for people having the right to do this and business having the freedom to offer alcohol before noon but the whole concept of brunch just befuddles me. And if you talk to most chefs they agree.. they for the most part hate brunch and are amazed that people pay as much as they do for scraps and cheap breakfast food.

As somebody who doesn't drink during the day but who does the weekly shopping on Sunday, I say hallelujah. It has always annoyed me to have to wait until 12:30 to make a wine purchase. On the other hand, when we moved here we couldn't buy alcohol at all on Sunday, so...progress!

South Carolina has 24 hours alcohol sales at gas stations and making tons of new money. Georgia can do the same.

Some people are buying beer to soak their Bratwurst in such as myself when I lived down there. Sunday was usually BBQ day for myself and the family. I don't drink. I'd usually by it, before Sunday anyway, so no alcohol sales on Sunday's never bothered me. You should be able to buy the stuff anytime you want. Prohibition is over..... lol

Brunch is just fun though, especially at quality places - and there are many.

This isn't local, but our favorite ever is at an amazing Mexican place in L.A. The fresh squeezed Valencia orange juice and real champagne for the mimosas, real vodka for the shots and the most amazing fresh king crab legs alone are more than worth $30.00 and have resulted in 5 visits so far.

Did I say that I love brunch?

Private clubs, such as country clubs, usually serve alcohol with Sunday brunch. So the current law is hardly seamless or fair.

Alcohol sales should be legal 24/7, but this would be a baby step forward.

They hate it because they go out drinking until the wee hours every Saturday night.

Keep this in mind, folks. Every time you go to brunch, most of the people cooking and serving your food are severely hungover, and some of them threw up in the restaurant bathroom at some point during their shift.

That said, I would be happy doing away with these Sunday limits.
