What I said was that it's legal, but still sort of sad that folks can't hold off on their first drink of liquor until noon.
My mother and her fellow Bridge Club members met twice a month. They had a routine they adhered to during those times that they never veered from in 52 years.

Coffee and rolls at 10:30
Bloody Marys or Wine at 11; Bridge commences
Lunch at 12:30
"Refreshers" at 2:30
Departure at 3:30

To my knowledge, those were the only times I knew her to have a drink before 6 PM. I never considered it sad at all.

Then don't drink. Simple as that. Live and let live, right?

What the rest of us are saying is, don't pass judgement out of some sanctimonious notion of "self-control".

As I said earlier in this thread, you didn't like it when others judged your suburban lifestyle in other C-D threads. So, why do you get to judge others?

Folks can drink all they want but they can't demand that everyone else pat them on the back.

As for my suburban lifestyle, I have never objected to anyone criticizing it. It doesn't seem all that suburban to me but why should I care what people say about it?

Sounds like a lovely group of ladies, Iconographer.

Maybe I'm wrong but I'd be surprised if they demanded that the bars open up by noon on Sunday because they needed a drink.

Literally nobody is making that demand.

I think it's more a problem for people who do attend church. Is it the fear that church attendees will go off and get drunk and forget to go to church? A great deal of people don't attend church because they are not Christians or it just don't like organized religion. Perhaps there should be a special law that anyone who identifies as Christian can't buy alcohol before 1230. That way Christians can respect their own traditions.

Did those same Christians that don't want people drinking on Sunday morning have sex before marriage?

Sounds to me like that's exactly what folks are saying. "Don't just tell me you are okay with going to the bar on Sunday morning being legal. You've also got to tell me you have no personal criticism of it whatsoever!"

P.S. My view on slamming back cocktails in the morning is not based on Christianity. It's legal and folks can do so if they please, but they can't expect the rest of the world to say, "Hey, that's great, man!"

Wholeheartedly agree with you. We've all done it on occasion, but I don't feel as if I am deprived of a constitutional right if I can't order a Bloody Mary at 11:00 am on a Sunday.
