Charge cards, yes. Their credit cards, not all.

With the Bank of America Premium Rewards card, you can earn 2.625% on general things or 3.5% on travel/dining. If I spent $30,000 last year, that's almost $1000 back a year on things I would have spent anyway.

you have to have a bank account, ID, social security card etc. to have free access to a card, otherwise there's fees. the effect is that many poor people, mentally ill people, elderly people, immigrants, people in emergency situations, and other people who aren't able to prove they're "in the system" for whatever reason won't be able to use it.

I did collect points for a little while, then just decided I didn't really spend enough to bother. After a couple of years, I was able to buy like a camping chair or something. I hardly ever pay attention to frequent flyer miles any more either. Mostly, because Delta. If I thought that I could easily earn tons and tons of points and pay for vacations and all that based on normal spending, maybe it would be worth looking into. But, ehhh....
I'm with you on that. Pay as you go and you're never behind the eight ball.

It would be nice if the stadium can find a way to accommodate these folks. Although some of them may be priced out on tickets in the first place, so it may be a moot point.

Default MB Stadium is also cutting food prices again

In addition to going completely cashless, as part of their efforts to attempt to enhance the fan experience, MB Stadium will also reduce the price of some of its most popular food prices for the second consecutive year.

The stadium will reduce prices by 11 percent on five of its most popular items, beginning March 10 for Atlanta United’s first home match of the season.

Cool. Must have one hell of a card. I would find it hard to believe that the average persons' normal spending would afford multiple high-end vacations based just on points.

Awesome. But don't most Amex cards have fees in the hundreds of dollars per year, especially ones that will get you any decent amount of rewards?

There are entire websites decicated to amassing points with credit cards, it's not that hard. Most give 5x points for certain things like travel, groceries or dining. You also get sign up bonuses, usually in the 40k-60k range just for getting the card. When you transfer the points to frequent flyer programs, it's easy to book international first class flight round trip in the range of 80k-100k points. Those are flights that easily cost thousands of dollars normally.

The only American Express with a fee in the hundreds range is the Platinum. The best card, honestly, for rewards, points for air travel, and protections is the Chase Sapphire. The fee is $95 annually. The points transfer to numerous hotel and airline programs. They include extended warranty, purchase protection. They even include perks like paying you to replace your items in case of lost or delayed luggage, or even paying for a hotel if your flight is significantly delayed or cancelled. I have received so much from that card for the measly $95 annual fee. I can't imagine not having it.

I haven't looked into it, but I r4ead somewhere that they reduced the price on those few items, but have now added tax on top of the original price, instead of having it included, meaning that the price for everything else went up. Have not yet verified if that is true.

Also read that even the in-seat vendors will be cashless, meaning to you have to send your card or phone down the line of seats instead of just being able to send a ten dollar bill or whatever. That sounds terrible.

The article did say that that is happening. They even quoted one of the stadium honchos as saying, "We’re going to revert to what everybody else does in the world and the price on the board is pre-tax". I always thought that the United States, Canada, and the UK were among the few places in the world that didn't include sales tax on displayed prices, and that pretty everywhere else the sales tax, sometimes called the value added tax, was included.

At least when the sales tax is included with the price, and the price is a whole dollar amount, you could hand over a few paper bills, and not worry about getting back some amount of coinage to carry around the rest of the day.
