I always hear good things mentioned about better living North of Georgia or North of ATL. Why arent there good things mention about south of Atl or in southern Georgia? I know theres got to be nice areas in other areas of atlanta. Although I think ATL area is a great place, People focus too much on just Atlanta. Is Atlanta the only good city in Georgia? If so tell me where and why. People from the southern parts of ATL and Georgia show some luv and tell some good things about your area.

I live in Mcdonough south of the city and I love it. A lot of companies are located on the north side which is annoying but the traffic there is ridiculous compared to the south side going into the city.
I do go into the city for more restaurants, shopping etc but I am happy here.

With out Atlanta, GA would probably be the worse state in the southeast, economy wise. Since we do have Atlanta, GA is the best in the southeast but besides Atlanta its really total different world in the rest of GA, in all cateogories even the weather (much hotter in the summer months in Macon, Augusta, etc)

We've only ventured to S. Georgia a few times, Valdosta area. Compared to ATL and North Metro (can't judge the South Metro, never spent time there) it's a whole different world. A totally different culture, some people probably love it and some people probably hate it. People focus on ATL because a majority of residents of the state of Georgia live here. It's a vibrant and growing Metro that the state should be proud of, however from what I'm told many people who live in the more rural areas of Georgia HATE Atlanta and it's residents.

Very true Skip.

I like to look at Georgia as having heaven in North and South Georgia surrounded by Hell in the middle aka Atlanta

South Georgia = Agriculture

Same here, I've been to Macon and Columbus a couple of times, Valdosta, Athens, and Savannah once. I don't get why the rest of GA feel the way they do...then again Savannah should be a large metro but isn't and that tells me that the rest of GA loves small town life (not a slam).

And what culture is that? Are you saying that south GA doesn't have it's own culture, or their culture just isn't important to you?

Not much culture in North Georgia unless you count Atlanta as being in North Georgia. I consider areas near I-20 and south to be Central Georgia so that would include Atlanta.
