Nah, it's a good idea to keep them in mind. Tornados are one reason why houses with a basement are a good thing.

I worked at Murdock Elem as a nurse ,the zip is 30062 and it feeds into 2 of the top high schools Pope and Lassiter. You can still find a decent resale under $250k believe it or not, it will be an older home but the newer ones in the area are selling for $800-$900K, Enough said!!

Almost all classrooms have smart boards. The computer room is huge and brand new. The access to new technology for classrooms is excellent. The PTA is very strong and the foundation well funded. There are no portable classrooms and it is not overcrowded like some East Cobb schools.
Murdock feeds into Dodgen and Hightower Trail. It actually sends many more kids to Dodgen than Hightower Trail. Almost all of the Murdock kids (except the part of the zone along Sewell Mill Road), whether they went to Dodgen or Hightower, end up attending Pope (the Sewell Mill part attends Walton).

Murdock does not feed into Lassiter.

Yes many schools have trailers. They are necessary but I wanted a school without them. Murdock is great value for education and home prices. Timber Ridge, Tritt and Shallowford Falls as well. They all feed into excellent schools. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

There were many schools left off the posters list. Too many for me to sit here and type.

It's better to know the parts of Cobb County in which the OP specifically has interest.

Default Hi

We are moving to GA in 3 weeks. I'll be working in Smyrna and Heard that Marietta is a good place to live and have good school system. Are there any other areas that are good and not that far from Smyrna. I do not mind to travel as far as 20-30 miles as long as area is good and school system is very good.
I really appreciate for any feed back.

Look into any schools in East Cobb that feed into Walton Pope and Lassiter. Walton is considered to be the best in East Cobb but Pope and Lassiter are comprable. I've heard very good things about Wheeler as well.
