Politically the majority of voters in Carrollton like the rest of Georgia towns vote republican. But that's politics. People's everyday social lives are more varied and complex than what you'll get with these neat little labels of conservative and liberal.

That is very true.

I have gay (male) friends who are very involved in their churches (and we're talking traditional conservative churches, not new-age type churches.)

I know liberal people who love to go target shooting and are card carrying NRA members.

I know conservative folks who are for legalizing pot and gay marriage.

I'm sure many of you can say something similar about your own social circles.

I live in Georgia(Carrollton). I know Georgia is considered a Red conservative state. But on the ground life is not that simple. Where I live we have a lot of people who aren't "conservative" in everything they do. I mean we have people in my area who cuss all the time, drink alcohol, smoke weed, smoke crack, sell drugs, have pre marital sex,out of wedlock kids, watch porn etc. None of these things are viewed as conservative behaviors but they all occur in every Georgia town. So again, how are people determining how conservative or liberal a state, city or town is? Is it only by how people vote?

Lol its funny though, because I always hear about these "self righteous", "church going", "conservative" people who have lots of skeletons in their closet and are far from being "pure". I just giggle at the hypocrisy of some of them!

Well conservative Christians also vote GOP to avoid paying taxes and helping out the poor, so there's that hypocrisy too...

Voting "Democrat" does not make you a liberal, especially a social liberal. Not here in Democrat-Dominated Clayton County anyway. Most of our elected officials here are Black Democrats, ALL are Democrats, but none of them are aggressive, obsessively "leftish" "Cynthia McKenney" types. During the primaries this summer (most Clayton County offices have been traditionally settled in the Democratic Primary for over a century) the candidates for local offices seemed to have "family friendly, "God and Country" style literature that you may also see in "conservative leaning" districts. Many told of their "faith journeys", where they go to church, gave details of their family life, etc. As a socially conservative Christian independent, I really have found that I have more in common with my "liberal" neighbors in Clayton County than differences. We worship the same Jesus and try to sere Him the best we can. Perhaps Metro Atlanta IS too conservative for some.

I think it's worth pointing out that the moderator of this forum has deleted posts that were critical of a thread where a poster asked for advice finding a neighborhood that met with their preferred conservative viewpoint and white ethnic majority. If we aren't supposed to question people about why they're asking for particular neighborhood advice, I think that rule would apply in this case.

If you think it should be flagged then do so, but usually when people use generalizations like this OP did it is just to be inflammatory and not a legitimate question.

In fact, someone asked if it was dangerous to wear an anti-Hillary shirt in SF and was immediately called out as a troll. People tend to post things like that for effect.

Yup, I'm a moderate that tends to lean to the left on a lot of issues, but I sure do love my pew pew time at the range, and collecting firearms (to the dismay of my wife)
