I've heard from sources that Atlanta is about one of the blackest cities in the country. Around 8 or 9 out of 10 people there being black. Is it really like this?

City of Altanta proper is +/- 60% black, but the overall Atlanta metro area is closer to 30% according to stats from the Census bureau.

hahaha I love that website. Anytime somebody asks me anything I say google it. Not that I'm lazy or anything but they could find better explanations and resources than me.

I'm wondering why someone who is soon to be in Northern Idaho is so interested in the racial makeup of Atlanta. Are you an Afrophobe?

Atlanta City Proper is now roughly 55% Black.

Metro Atlanta is roughly 35%-38% Black.

The State of Georgia is roughly 30%-31% Black.

Why are you so concerned? Atlanta, a major world-international city, is lucky to have this signature cultural feature...very unique on the world/international stage (even though many Americans cannot appreciate it).

Atlanta is a great place for all types of people...White, Black, Latino, Asian, Indian, Internationals...

I think the majority of people that move in here are black. It's close to a half and half with currently living residents. Everyone wants to be in the city where all the rappers are from. XD

It has the reputation as "Black Mecca," but judging from this forum this isn't really the case.
