I consider 12th to 15th street to be downtown and there were tumbleweeds going down the road.

Now that you mention it, MOPAC north of 45th did have a few more cars than I expected going up to the Arboretum about 12:30 PM. But traffic was real light on Burnet/Lamar heading home.

I'm glad stores were open early yesterday (Sunday) morning. Got my Christmas shopping done then, and the traffic and crowds were light.

I had to work, and will tomorrow too. The traffic going to Round Rock, and probably beyond, around noon time was crazy. I ended up taking the feeder road most of the way between Parmer and 79. Traffic in the rest of the area I traveled wasn't too bad.

Traffic tomorrow will be super light, as it was this AM.

Wait - you're saying the capitol complex, filled exclusively with government employees, the vast majority of which have the day off, was a ghost town? you don't say. . .

Left Cedar Park around 2:30 today, heading towards the Capital to play tourist. Traffic on 183 bad from Lakeline to Mopac. Mopac was moving just fine, downtown was a breeze. Left the Capital a little after 5 and only had one minor slowdown, near 360, Mopac and 183. Traffic was heavy to New Hope but once past Braker it was moving.
Basically anything near major shopping was a zoo and other areas, not so much.

Went to Lakeline Mall around 7:30, plenty of parking etc. In and out of Costco 6:30ish with no issues.

Apparently you need to spend more time on SlowPac or I-35 at 3:30 PM every weekday because it's always congested, especially the closer you get to downtown or ABIA. SloPac will get worse when TEXDOT starts the "managed lanes" (i.e. toll lane) project next Spring.

Now if I had a train that would take me from South Austin to Downtown (oh wait, that's not going to happen in my life time).

The only traffic I ran into yesterday was cars pouring into town from 2222 onto Allandale/Northland Dr. west of Mopac around 3:00 p.m. It was the usual backup of commuter traffic, but normally cars are heading out of town at that time, not into town. Must have been Barton Creek or Domain shoppers because Burnet Road was an absolute breeze.
