My car is 13 years old and doesn't have a speck of rust on it. I'm convinced that the dirt protects the finish.

I totally agree, Baldrick! The Heep acts up for two reasons: I don't get her dirty often enough, or I don't pat her on the nose and say goodnight at the end of the day.

This isn't my picture, but I've been known to come home looking something like this:

Also agreed. It's when you wash it that the dirt scratches the paint!

2-3 times a year. No snow here. Hardly ever rains. Just doesn't get dirty.

actually the only time you suppose to wash your car is in winter because there is salt on the roads.

last when when my car was new i washed it about 3-4 times. this year im washing it more okke maybe twice a month. they charge $8 for a basic wash and they also clean and vacuum the inside. i can do the inside with a car vac and foam cleaner but it's tougher for me to clean the outside since i park on a city street and it would be awkward, so i take it to the car wash.

That might be true for us up here in the rust belt, but in British Columbia they don't use salt for the roads. They use sand.

Cars out that way last forever.

Huh? Says who? Your call of duty buddies that drive a Dodge Neon? So to you it doesn't matter in summer how dirty the car gets?

I wash my car when it needs it. To me that means when it has readily visible spots of dirt. I like a clean car. Occasionally I use a touchless car wash - usually in the winter. But otherwise I wash myself at home.

Wax 2-3 times a year.

I think we end up washing my wifes car 4~5 times a year and my truck 2~3 times a year. No "wax" on either (meaning a carnauba or physical barrier), opting for a paint sealant instead ~ they're not show cars. And then, only when the water doesn't bead up and roll off during the rinse cycle of a wash.

Pretty much never use a car wash, and only paid for a "detail" once just to realize they left the car in Much worse condition than we gave it to them. It's a nice bonding experience with my wife, so we just do it ourselves.

I never let a year pass without washing my car at least once.

Every 3 weeks inside and out since I got my new car 6 months ago. I have to take out clients regularly and it has to stay clean. When I had my jeep, it must have only gotten washed 3 times a year.
