Because those automatic car washes are bad for your paint. It causes swivel marks on the paint.

Even the touchless ones? That's what I go to and have had no problems with the paint.

That is what touchless is all about. I hate to see swirl marks on vehicles, I notice them often especially on black vehicles.

Never.
In the twelve years I have owned my pickup, and the four years I have owned my thunderbird, they have never, ever been washed with soap and water.
I do have a process by which they remain clean, but it has NEVER involved using soap of any kind.
