Engines don't make horsepower; they make torque. Engines convert fuel into torque which is the twisting force of the crankshaft and through the transmission (and other driveline components) to the wheels.
If the vehicle is intended to be run on premium, and it isn't, power can definitely be lost. Common knowledge.
Sounds optimistic, but the point of adding or swapping to performance parts is to add power. Only the dyno knows the real numbers.
Chips are real. Not the $20 ebay junk, but they can make a substantial difference,. They are basically a fixed version of what handheld tuers or laptop programs can do.
Ferraris? Vettes? Many of the much smaller exotic companies?
HP to weight is where every car begins. The more weight a car has the more power it needs to compete, more brakes to stop, and more suspension to manage the bulk. Colin Chapman made it his motto in regards to making cars faster-"add more lightness".
Why? I don't dispute anything hoff said. He's one of the intelligent posters in this thread. VictimofGM's comment was dumb, we both pointed that out. Physics absolutely proves that HP:weight is the key to a fast car. Other things, of course, matter but are less of importance. That you apparently don't understand what a function is and like popular folksy sayings that have no basis in reality is neither here nor there. The old "horsepower sells cars, torque wins races" line your grandfather picked up from a car salesman before you were born should be allowed to go to the grave with your grandfather. The 328d has nearly as much torque as the E90 M3 did. Torque does not win races.
you are sitting around talking car engine designs, you make a comment on the v4 design and people act like you're nuts, stating things like, "you must be a dumbass cuz they never made a v4, its a flat 4 or i4". good thing wiki is around...some people.
There were some rings you attached to the wheels that supposedly enhanced stability and steering. Don't recall if they were supposed to increase gas mileage as well.
people sitting around comparing hp with other cars...showing that they know nothing about cars at all. ITS MUCH MORE THAN HP, CARS ARE ALL TUNED DIFFERENTLY, weight, steering, braking ect, never mentioned just hp....snooze fest
