If I'm being totally honest, probably between 6 and 7. I'm occasionally prone to inattentiveness, especially when waiting for a red light to turn green. I like to think my defensive driving skills, particularly on a freeway, are sharp, but I have little evidence to back that statement up.

I leave it for others to judge me.

I used to be a volunteer advanced driving 'observer' helping others to get up to standard for the Advanced Driving Exam here in the UK.

I still undergo yearly exams myself and have been on additional courses such as skid pan control.

Anyone who thinks they are perfect is either exceptional or complacent.

I was definitely a 9 before moving to the DC area. I have done things I'm not proud of due to the sheer number of other reckless drivers around here. It took some points off, but I'm determined to keep control of myself and I think the points are rising again. I wouldn't say that I'm back to a 9 yet, though.

My driving improved the most when I took my ego out of it.
Also, learning to ride a motorcycle in a town full of idiot drivers (Austin) has left me a very aware driver (even in the car).
Lastly, if you simply enjoy the act of driving and don't feel the need to distract yourself out of boredom, I think you wind up driving better.

About 7.

Those years in CA put a damper on my ability to drive in the snow and I spun out my S2000 on an unplowed road in MA last winter. Overall other than that I'm a pretty damn good driver.

Though I know it's not part of the discussion, I also drive over the speed limit at least 100% of the time which makes me awesome, but a scofflaw.

Most people think they are way better drivers than they really are. And street skills are different than racing skills. And then we have parking. The best drivers are aware of their skills and limitations, and practice to become better. I try my best but we all have lapses and could learn a thing or 2. Hats off to those of you who get that! share the road with you any day.

I rode a motorbike for years before driving a car with any regularity.

I believe it made me a better driver. It certainly helped with anticipation of other idiots trying to kill me all the time, i'm very aware of what other road-users are doing.

To answer the question.. I'm good, not brilliant. I have good control but can be distracted (womens legs mainly)... safe but a little too fast. I just love those corners.

(on a side note, why do some people slow down for corners? .... corners are where the fun happens.)
