Hmm... good topic. I won't give myself a score but I know my merits and demerits.
I would count negatively against myself in that I will sometimes make maneuvers that push the envelope a little. I am also a self admitted, habitual, speeder. Which while is not necessarily dangerous, it is also not an attempt at being safe.
Positively speaking... I know what is going on around me almost all of the time. I am always sure to practice very safe driving when it is important to do so. I promote the fastest possible flow of traffic and respect other drivers who are driving correctly but typically do not to the ones who are not.
I'd say anybody who actually pays attention to driving instead of other things, doesn't drive drunk or high, and hasn't gotten into many accidents (or near misses) very likely ranks above average. I'd wager a guess that most people posting in this thread probably ARE above average since only people who'd care about driving (and thus would try to actually drive rather than send text messages) would bother to be in this sub-forum.
if you were to honestly and objectively rate your driving on a scale of 1(lowest to 10(highest) factoring in everything but speeding, what grade would you give yourself?
8 in my personal vehicle - I need to be more patient those who drive slowly in the left lane, fail to use turn signals, ride in my blind spot, and intentionally turn (or change lanes) in front of oncoming (faster) traffic.
9.5 in the work truck - I drive an 18 wheeler with 7500 gallons of flammable liquid behind me. I have to drive carefully and skillfully, or else I (and others) won't go home alive at the end of my day.
