I'd take the Lincoln any day. Tesla is still an up and coming company and I really don't think they can provide the service that the car may require. If I was going to buy an electric or fuel efficient vehicle, I would buy a product of one of the established companies, either American, German, Korean, or Japanese.

Personally, I don’t buy luxury brands since the road salt and miles make for some fierce depreciation. The only reason I’d get something that big is as a tow vehicle. I shrank boats this spring and now own something towable but not with a 6-cylinder Outback farther than the 0.7 miles from my driveway to the boat yard where it lives in a slip all summer. It would be nice to be able to trailer it to downeast Maine occasionally.

You might want to log your fuel economy on a few tanks of 87 octane vs a few tanks of 91 octane. I have no experience with that particular engine but with that kind of displacement/HP, you're usually not saving anything by running 87 octane fuel in the tank. It's often more like "87 octane won't damage the engine" but it will run like a dog and you see lousy fuel economy as the knock sensors mess with the timing and limit the turbo boost.

I’d love it if Ford comes out with a Navigator Grand touring as an EV truck.

here is what the manual says:

Your vehicle is designed to operate on
regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum
pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some fuel stations, particularly those in high
altitude areas, offer fuels posted as regular
unleaded gasoline with an octane rating
below 87. The use of these fuels could result
in engine damage that will not be covered
by the vehicle warranty.
For best overall vehicle and engine
performance, premium fuel with an octane
rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The
performance gained by using premium fuel
is most noticeable in hot weather as well as
other conditions, for example when towing
a trailer. See Towing (page 315).

i wonder how much of a difference it would really make to use premium gas.
