Warnock says workforce training is center of his Baltimore housing platform - Baltimore Sun

Along with rebuilding certain communities he'll also have to make unpopular decisions about these same communities. Baltimore's career politicians have ignored, taken for granted and failed an entire block of voters. Radical change has to happen for Baltimore to improve.

The first thing the new mayor MUST do upon entering
office is have a FULL audit of Baltimore City government
from top to bottom.

They must be prepared to let the chips fall where they may
with regards to prosecution of guilty parties.

Come on!!? One of the reasons you're voting for him is because he's a white male with money (nothing wrong with white men with money) and you're tired of seeing Black politicians eff the city (I know I'm tired of seeing Black people mess up the city!).

People have to be mentally prepared for work (work ethic) before any workforce training is implemented. If you're coming to my company tatted down, piercings, earings in tongue, unkept hair, clothes, smelling bad and things of that nature; who will hire you??!!!

I went to one of his events. He came across as a very reasonable, articulate guy to me. He doesn't have any real governing/legislative experience, but I don't think that governing experience built within the city of Baltimore is necessarily what we need (given the local culture for inaction, corruption etc). I'd love to see effective politicians who cut their teeth in other areas, and could bring in fresh ideas about what's possible, government culture, etc.

I don't think that being a successful businessman matters because he's a businessman, but it's one way to demonstrate that someone has accomplished significant things in the real world, managed & led people etc to a favorable outcome, so I generally view it well. Watching his campaign for sure.

If I understand correctly, he became successful and acquired his wealth within the city. IMO this speaks volume more so than candidates who did not. Not only it demonstrates that Baltimore can be a city for prosperity, but that he wants to change the tenure of the city. He has done some good work in the inner city communities and they appretiate his work. I'm also watching Embry, who has a very detailed plan to reduce crime in the city. Everybody else will just continue the status quo.

You're right that he built his business experience in Baltimore, but in my comment I was referring to the fact that I'd like to see political/governing experience from outside the city, as opposed to someone who came up within our local political machinery, which I see as dysfunctional. I agree he seems promising.

Don't know much about Embry, will have to read up on him.

Interesting take. I think a different perspective, that I would like to see someone who has experience within the city. Planners and other high officials from outside the city made some costly mistakes to the city due to their lack of understanding of Baltimore history, culture, ect.
