^^^ Six days later, they are in a two-game winning streak (having gone 6-4 in their last 10) and only need six more wins to reach 82. They can do it.
3 days later, they still need 6 wins, and they are now 1/2 a game behind 1st place. Pittsburgh plays Milwaukee tonight, so there should be a good chance their 2 game losing streak stays at 2 games.
The Bucs were lucky in getting through the middle of the season w/o key injuries, but they got walloped since then, first Wandy, then Grilli, then Marte. Melancon stepped up for Grilli and Watson stepped up for Melancon, but after that it's been a hot mess.
Locke is completely lost. Charlie Morton (!!!!) is their best starter in August. Garrett Jones should just be DFAd at this point.
I expect the Bucs to be in 2nd place for awhile. Once Grilli and Marte are back, Bucs can retake first on their trip to Busch.
I have a buddy from WV and he's a big Buc's fan. Staying with the superstitious theme of baseball, he has refused to talk about the Buc's.
I hope they hang on to make the playoffs, I think something like that is ultimately good for the game. I had the pleasure of going to a game in July 2012 and must say that PNC Park is a beautiful park.
Well this should help, I really would like to see the Pirates win the division, lord knows I cannot stand the Cardinals.
I'm guessing your hatred of the St. Louis Cardinals has something to do with 1982 and 2011. I understand because I am no Cards fan either. One reason I couldn't care less about the Cleveland Indians or the NY Yankees(but the team I really can't is stand the Braves).
