what he meant is that the cap is going to 90mil next season...a jump of 20mil from this season.
Yep, aware of that.
I don't want to put words in the mouth of the other poster but it seemed like they were implying that was going to perhaps quick-fix the Lakers because we've heard before about how free agents will be breaking down their door to play there and how they can "outspend" everyone else....big market etc etc.
I'm just curious what they're thinking in more detail.

Do you think Kobe has something to do with this? When (becoming If) he retires the Lakers will not only have cap room but also be more of an attractive destination for a star player. With every 7-25 shooting night its clear its still Kobe's team. Guess is that it won't be soon.
And I'd prefer the Clips become something bigger than the Lakers.

Yes that's 100% known around the league, nobody wanted to join Kobe. The finger pointing and blaming of Gasol, Howard and frankly everyone else when clearly his own skills had declined got around the league and then some.
Heck, Aldridge just last summer during his visit to the Lakers was told that Kobe would still be the main scoring option and that he'd need to focus on rebounding lol.
With all that said though, the Lakers are still in a draft pick deficit from the Nash etc. trades so just because they get cap space doesn't mean they can suddenly make moves as they can only pick up FA's and can't do things like what Cleveland did to bring in Love...or the many other trades.
Kristaps Porzingis has made the Knicks watchable. He can knock down a three pointer, grab rebounds, block shots and is aggressive enough to draw fouls. From a sabremetrics level, that's what you want from a modern day big.
He's knocked down five. Right now, his 3 pt shooting percentage is two percentage points higher than Dirk's was at the same age.
