Sacramento Kings, expected to be the doormat team in the NBA this season, doing pretty well so far. Just beat the Rockets last night, and now have 5 wins and 4 losses. Not bad for a 17 win club last year that only added a couple of draft picks. Also, they lost a couple of their top scorers for the remainder of 2009, Kevin Martin and Cisco Garcia.
Tyreke Evans doing very well with the team. Seems to match up well with Beno Udrih in the backcourt, providing two fairly tall combo guards who can handle the ball reasonably well and score. I expect them to go through some difficult times, but I'd have to say they are the surprise team in the league so far this season.
Most surprising teams so far: Phoenix, Sacramento, Milwaukee. My Kings are playing great. They keep this up just maybe they can contend for the final playoff spot in the West, if OkC, No, Utah continue to lose.
Are the Hawks for real this year? 8-2, with a blowout win over the Nuggets and quality wins at Boston and Portland. They looks much more poised than last year's team.
Hawks survive Blazers, and Dirk nails the crazy bounce game winner @ Milwaukee, 3 out of a possible 4 road wins (only loss came @ San Antonio). Not bad.
Hawks 8-2, if this new trend of the Hawks playing good defense and solid team rebounding continues.....dare I say we could make some noise this year???????????????????????????????

One thing for sure is they have some of the best athletes in the league on that squad w/Smith, Horford, Johnson, etc. If they can keep up this level of play, they are definitely a scary squad to be dealt w/in the east.
Well there goes what little bit of credibility ESPN "power" rankings had.
edit--I should clarify, while I wouldn't put ATL one, that isn't what drove my comment so much. It's the whole list that bothers me. But trying to rank NBA teams in Nov. is gonna be hard for anybody.
