The Metropolitan - $40 million project in Lakeview. Lot is empty. No activity as of yet, though the project is expected to break ground this spring. It will cover nearly the entire city block (two old buildings will remain unfortunately because the owner did not want to sell even though they were probably offered a more than fair price).

Across the street, the 29-7 apartment complex with the (kinda) new Babalu Tacos on the corner

Bristol Complex on Clairmont - Across from the golf course on Clairmont between 34th and 36th a very nice multifamily complex is scheduled. No construction yet, but there were a few guys out there doing some sort of surveying or measuring.

Harbert Tower on Highland - 15-story apartment complex on Highland Avenue is not yet under construction. Sure hope this thing gets off the ground soon.

4700 Colonnade - Apartment complex under construction at the corner of Cahaba River Road and Colonnade Parkway. Lots of construction activity at this site. Signage said move in Fall 2015, though I think early 2016 is more likely.

Patchwork Farms - Large mixed use development on Caldwell Mill Road near Acton Road/Colonnade Parkway behind Lifetime Fitness in Vestavia Hills. A handful of construction workers were out there to my surprise so this appears to be moving forward.

Both of these projects are only a mile or two from the new hospital.

The Booker T just closed yesterday, as CPG said.

The Brown-Marx does not have a planned use just yet.

Would be nice for the New Ideal/Ideal building(s) next door to be redeveloped as well. A McWane expansion would be cool.

Booker T. Washington Building - Has a for sale sign on it now. I sure hope plans come through for this soon.

Wasn't the Pizitz Building supposed to be part of/connected to the science museum that went in there?? I thought it was being used. We used to live in B'ham but haven't been back in ages.

The Rotary photo actually looks quite different from just a couple weeks ago. The walls along the streets have been removed since the construction announcement.

Loveman's department store was the building that was used as a nucleus for McWane Center.

Pizitz department store was always planned as an independent project.

Brands unveiled for Parkside Hilton project - Birmingham Business Journal

Hmmm, not quite the signature product I had hoped for with 5 stories but still a great boost to the area. Those two brands will complement the people wanting to stay near the hospital quite well.
