thanks for the link. wasn't expecting to see any renderings yet (although these are obviously VERY preliminary and look like they were slapped together in a couple of hours):

interesting tidbit from the BBJ article:

"Orchestra Partners also plans to redevelop the adjacent lot that could include an upscale hotel and apartments. Powell Avenue will serve as a pedestrian center for street vendors, events, and programming for outdoor gatherings."

That's a really nice win for the steam plant and downtown as a whole.

^^^First pix of the tall building is that perhaps the apartments or hotel rendering.?? Also wish they would have some entertainment on the rooftop. What would be cool if they illuminated the smoke stacks.

wow. hadn't seen those. would love to finally get another 20-story building on the skyline. guessing that's just a conceptual rendering at this point, though. not an actual proposal.

i wonder if that space in between (essentially the alley) is intended to be the link from railroad park to rotary trail?

YUGE pull for downtown. A++++. If you've never been to an Alamo, then you have not yet discovered just how much it changes the movie-going experience. It revitalizes the concept of making a night out of going to a picture. Clean, excellent food and bar, great service, and as a strict company policy, they enforce courtesy. If you disrupt, they will bounce you without hesitation. Putting it in such a pretty, historic building is icing on the cake. It truly is a galaxy away from the price-gouged, lawless experience of going to a Rave / Carmichael.

Just a fantastic pull, and can precipitate much more.

Good find. Yeah it seems like the hotel should be more like 8 stories. I thought the Sherman site included some retail space too?
