very cool, and in keeping with the scale of the immediate neighborhood while still getting close to a dozen units on that property.

Yeah, but the price point is a killer. For that kind of scratch, I can live in Redmont. If they can fetch it, more power to them.

And here I was thinking that anyone coming in with less than 2M was going to get their feelings hurt. Especially in this inflated market.

Honestly would have preferred some moderate height on that lot but these plans are a much better use of the property.

Went to a movie at McWane's iMax, then strolled to John's for dinner, then strolled back to our car tonight. Holy smokes, there's a lot of construction going on downtown. Can anyone shed light on what the absolute hell is going on on 20th?

General Construction Information
Businesses and sidewalks on 20th Street North plan to remain open throughout construction, which is scheduled in four 50-day phases:

Phase 1 (Oct. 11 – Dec. 17): Northbound lane of 20th Street from 3rd Avenue North to Linn Park
Phase 2 (Dec. 18 – Feb. 2): Southbound lane of 20th Street from Linn Park to 3rd Avenue North
Phase 3: Southbound lane of 20th Street from 3rd Avenue North to Morris Avenue
WE ARE HERE: Phase 3 began Feb. 3
Phase 4: Northbound lane of 20th Street from Morris Avenue to 3rd Avenue North
East/west lanes (3rd Ave N, 4th Ave N, 5th Ave N, 6th Ave N, Park Place) of travel will remain open.

Each phase includes demo, concrete and brickwork, planting of trees and annuals, and irrigation installation. Finishing elements like planters, perennial plantings, cafe-style seating, and lane painting will be added from Linn Park to Morris Avenue after all four phases of construction are complete.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in time for Birmingham to welcome international visitors for the World Games 2022. The 20th Street North project stretches from Morris Avenue to Linn Park and includes…

-expansion of the bike and flex lanes installed on a portion of the street in 2020
-new native and drought-resistant landscaping, consistent with the plant palette found in Railroad Park and Rotary Trail
-flexible cafe-style public seating
-sidewalk and crosswalk improvements
-public art
