In response to where to live in the mountains in ca, a great community with wonderful schools and good safety plus pine trees everywhere and only about 45 min. to sacramento is the grass valley, nevada city area the hospital is decent sized and in need of nurses. housing isn't cheap but it's reasonable, you could rent a nice place for 1300-1800 depending on what part of the area. Look at ridge road area it's right by the highschool which is a blue ribbon h.s., val vista estates and right around the h.s. seems to usually have a few rentals usually homes built in the 70's and 80's and elementary, middle schools 3-4 minutes away, also the hospital is 2-3 minutes and grocery stores gas blockbuster all 2-3 minutes.the only places to shop in town are drugstores, specialty stores, and k-mart, but auburn is only 15-20 min. with target, ross and others, if you do go up to check it out or move up get in touch with Dan DeMartini he's in the phone book, his family lives all over the area he and his wife and all his brothers and sisters are real good samaritan's and would be happy to help you get settled, they have all raised their children up there he helped me out as i was up there in a really bad situation and is a rae gem of a genuinely good person he'd help any stranger with anything. The hospital is called sierra nevada, check it out and if you go really look up those demartini's, best of luck

Well, this is a great question and I want to answer honestly. I was raised in Paradise, CA. I loved it. We left there when I was in Jr High, and I can remember looking out the back window crying, but vowing I would move back there someday. No matter how much it has changed, it is still my paradise. Fast forward 30 years and finally pending my divorce, I want to go back there. I am seriously considering it. My Mom wants to move back there also. There is nothing keeping me from doing it. It was a great town to grow up in and I finally get to go back there for a 30 year reunion. And I didnt even graduate from Paradise, but I grew up there. Go there. You will never regret it. Sandi....dreaming of my Paradise.

You may want to consider Mariposa County. There is a hospital in the town of Mariposa.
