There is no such thing as a temporary tax increase, even if that's what they say

It s*cks...but get ready for more of it at both the state & national level. I'm a Republican, but they, too have kicked the can down the road. There are few Reps. like Chris Christie, Gov. of NJ.
As California increases taxes, fees and regulations on businesses then more businesses and people will leave, then California will lose even more tax revenue, then they raise taxes again even more ...
It’s a death spiral.

Another factor is the real estate market. As the inflated home values drop, more people become upside-down on their mortgage, and they walk, creating more foreclosures which drives the values down even more ... and the cycle continues ... and the counties lose more property tax revenue.

We should let all of the illegal immigrants pay income tax or be deported. That should help bring down the debt. More income with taxes or less spending with deportation. Its a win, win.

Lets cut welfare too. Paychecks are for workers, right?

You know what else would help. Actually create a business friendly environment. Good weather only get you so far.

Tell the teachers and your profesors they can't draw pensions at 55 and the budget cuts will be a lot less harsh.

That's the fact the teachers and professors conveniently leave out when they proselytize to students about budget cuts.

There isn't any magic trick. The best the state can do is apply the hurt to discretionary and unhealthy personal expenditures ... yes, sometimes known as a "sin" tax.

Just do it ... get 'er dun.
This is a debt of politicians paying off unions and great society program recipients. Had they not been doing the wrong things with our money we would not be in this situation.

I think even if they extort the money out of us they will still be spending like crack addicts.

I think Meg would have cut the union size and wages. She would have somewhat cut back the dole and maybe make it very temporary.

Pensions are a bottomless pit into which taxpayer money is dumped and no services are rendered in return. If government needs to be cut (and it does), then let's start there.

She would have had as much success with that as Arnold did.
