Let's not even get into educating the illegal children of the illegal aliens.

Get real, folks. Liberalism is dead. This isn't a Republican issue, its a realism issue. We can't keep taxing the middle class to death so people can live for free in Section 8 housing, deal drugs, and ride public transportation all day to their drug deals from their houses.

The best way to get rid of gang bangers and the gang/welfare culture that is plaguing California is to cut the cord.
The unions will pay hundreds of millions to sell the public the shell game that it is all for the teachers, police, starving children from Saturn and mostly the women voters eat that stuff up every election. That's how we have all these stupid bonds.

Some of the people you globally mention might indeed be stupid. I will agree with you about some of them for sure.

Why? Every election I've been through for decades has had the same formula. For the children, for the teacher's union, for the police and so forth.
Here is the facts of the case regarding this shell game.
These things pass often in bonds EVERY election.
Ever wonder where the money went from all this before?

Answer: All this is already budgeted and have people fund it multiple times over and over then make a theft of the original funding into the general budget where politicians spend it all on nonsense. That is the simple truth and it pisses me off so many are gullible voters.

California's $500-billion pension time bomb - Los Angeles Times

Read it and weep. The amount reported by the Times here is low.

Times have changed and we don't need much of a civil service anymore. It would be better to just contract out most of the gov. service positions, with some exceptions, to eliminate legacy costs which are bankrupting the cities, states, feds.

Oh and look what we have here : Battle begins over San Jose pension costs - San Jose Mercury News

$12,400 -- Annual cost of Social Security benefits for a private-sector employee who earns $100,000 a year. The worker and employer split the cost.
$72,260 -- Annual pension cost for a San Jose police officer earning the same $100,000 salary. The city picks up more than 2 ½ times the employee's share.
