Good ear. After living for a few years in Eastern WA, I can distinctly hear the E. WA/Idaho/N.Utah accent. It's very subtle, but it's there. Listen to Wilford Brimley for an example of it.

I grew up in San Jose, but in my part people did have quite a few "valley girl" phrases and I have been labeled as such my whole life. Unfortunately for me I sound like Alicia Silverstone circa "Clueless" on speed.

I think I might have just a hint of a southern accent. Nothing like a true southerner lol. I think I have the most in common, linguistically, with Midwesterners--though they do tend to have a "mini soda" twang. I know I do not sound like a northeasterner. I am sure that Californians do have accents but they're the least distinctive of all.

Well my Irish husband thinks I'm the one with the accent. So yes- we do if you you're not used to hearing it all the time.

That's how I sound to myself. :P

Generally most people comment my voice is very pleasant. Once they get over the shock that it is coming from me. (I am african-american)

What they say: "You're very well-spoken"
What they mean: "For a black person"

Unfortunately most blacks, not all, speak in that jungle-rap dialect. If blacks try to speak correctly they get accused by other blacks of being uncle toms or sellouts or not keeping it real.
