I'm a big In-N-Out fan. Ate my first one in 1987, while in Southern California. Glad that they now have locations here in the Bay Area. Also love Five Guys and Fatburger (none here in the Bay Area) and Islands.

I love Islands for a step above fast food. My son really enjoys their burgers which are pretty tasty:

But their Hawaiian style chicken sandwich is one of the best I've tried anywhere (Toucan)

I looked and saw that a store manager at In-N-Out makes $100,000+monthly bonuses ? Probably gets free hamburgers too ! I know my new career calling.

A hot freshly made McDonad's burger is pretty good, and it is significantly better than the average burger you get tat McDonald's. The problem is even as a guy who does a special order every time I only get one like that once out of every 50 burgers or so. If you're always taking you burger with all the normal toppings I imagine you might only get a fresh one 1 out of 500 times or so.

A hot freshly made Mcdonald's hamburger is pretty good ? This is news to me. I worked at Mcdonald's for 4 years and at best their hamburgers have been consistantly below average on a good day.

Fatburger is good but it isn't really fast food and prices are higher than in&out. They recently opened a Fatburger here in my town and I went there once when I was in the area I got a xxl burger(not their biggest burger) and fries and it was like $15. I would rather go to in&out.

In-N-Out is my absolute favorite, with Fatburger being a close second.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but OP, you should try Tommy's on Beverly and Rampart.

Had Fatburger today for lunch. Only got the burger and got the XXXL Burger which is 1.5lb of beef. The burger did not seem as lean as The Habit. There was also a lot of excess oil dripping.

Fatburger's hamburger was just a regular meat on the grill, then add on the extras. I didn't really notice anything special in terms of taste or flavor. In-N-Out the hamburgers are seasoned really well then the animal style also gives it more taste. It seemed to be more fatty vs. In-N-Out and The Habit's burgers. It cost me over $10.00

There's a spot in Aliso Viejo next to Barnes and Noble in that plaza which is the one that I went to. I looked online and it looks like there is another one in Buena Park. I'm not keen on driving near Laguna Hills/Beach/Aliso Viejo, it's too hilly and I feel like the hills put un-needed wear and tear on my Prius and the brakes.

Fatburger: 7/10.....not digging the sweet pickles either.

Juicy Burger, Kirk's Steakburgers, St John's...

Then, of course, there is Redrum Burger. Too bad it's only in Davis

In-n-Out is consistently good because the ingredients are high quality and FRESH. In-n-outs are only built within a certain number of miles of their own distribution centers so that quality is not compromised. I currently don't live in a state with In-n-Out (a SoCal original) & haven't found any "fast food" places with anything comparable. When I go to CA to visit fam/friends, I always hit an In-n-Out...have never had a bad burger there. Miss it!
